A Tour of Culture Exploration to Beijing W Town and Simatai Great Wall

In order to make the international students get a better understanding of traditional Chinese culture and appreciate its unique charm, on November 25th, 2018, COHD arranged 39 international students and 4 international student assistants to visit the famous Beijing W Town and Simatai Great Wall. Along the way, the tour guide gave the students verbal narration in fluent English regarding the background of the Great Wall as well as the history of its 9 sections inside Beijing.

Situated at the foot of Simatai Great Wall, Beijing W Town is located in the Gubeikou town of Miyun District, Beijing, where has been noted for its impregnable geographical location since ancient times. In addition, embracing Yuanyang lake reservoir, Beijing W Town is definitely an unusual scenic resort in the suburbs of Beijing that integrates mountain, water and city all together.

Under the guidance of the tour guide, the students walked through the lanes and alleys of the town with great joy, as if they were in a beautiful and delicate watery village of the South. They all reveled in the amazing scenery in front of them and kept taking photographs of it with admiration. Passing through the beautiful water town, the students came to the entrance of Simatai Great Wall, where they could not wait for climbing to the top. Despite the dangerous terrain making the road to the summit not easy to climb along, many international students still made it with huge excitement and pride.

Around 5:00 p.m., the students walked down the Great Wall to end the trip reluctantly. With the dramatic landscapes kept in their mind and fantastic photographs saved in their mobile phones, the international students made an unforgettable trip of Chinese culture exploration. "It was a great tour. It was beautiful. The Great Wall is great!" Ali said when asked about his opinion towards the trip. "Although a little tired, I have got a very good experience!" Joalane, another student, exclaimed excitedly.
