Sergio Latorre was born in Bogota, Colombia. He holds an LL.B. from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana and a LL.M. and J.S.D (Doctor of the Science of Law) from Cornell University. He is now assistant professor in Civil Law, and he teaches Introduction to Civil Law (Persons), Property Law, and Introduction to Contracts (Duties), and a graduate seminar series on New Rurality, Property and Agrarian Law at Universidad del Norte in Barranquilla, Colombia. Sergio is interested in exploring innovative approaches toward bridging gaps between law and local cultures and communities, in particular campesino (rural) communities in the region of Montes de Maria, Bolivar, where he has done extensive fieldwork research for over 10 years. He currently provides legal advice to some landless organizations in the region regarding land restitution and monetary compensation. Sergio has published different pieces in journals both in Spanish and English, including Third World Quarterly, Environment and Planning C: Politics and Space, etc.
塞尔吉奥·拉托雷出生于哥伦比亚首都波哥大。他拥有哈韦里亚纳天主教大学的法学学士学位以及康奈尔大学的法学硕士和法学博士学位。现为哥伦比亚北方大学法学助理教授，讲授《民法概论》、《财产法》和《契约概论》并负责组织系列以“新农村、财产与土地法”为主题的研究生研讨会。塞尔吉奥长期在玻利瓦尔省蒙特斯德玛丽亚地区的农村社区开展实地研究，致力于探索和创新能够弥合法律与当地文化和社区间鸿沟的方法，他目前为该地区的一些无地/失地组织提供有关土地归还和货币补偿的法律咨询。其论文主要以西班牙语和英语发表于《第三世界季刊》《环境与规划C：政治与空间》等国际知名期刊。
