A Brief Introduction to Peking Opera:

京剧简介:

Peking opera, or Beijing opera, is a form of Chinese opera which combines music, vocal performance, mime, dance and acrobatics. Peking opera, with the main tone of Xipi and Erhuang, accompanied by Huqin and gongs and drums, is regarded as the quintessence of Chinese culture and the most well-know Chinese opera. It arose in the late 18th century and became fully developed and recognized by the mid-19th century. Peking Opera was listed into the National Intangible Heritage Catalogue in 2006.

京剧是一种结合了音乐、声乐、哑剧、舞蹈和杂技的中国戏剧。京剧以西皮、二黄为主音，以胡琴、锣鼓为伴奏，被认为是中国文化的精髓，是中国最著名的戏曲。它兴起于18世纪末，在19世纪中期得到充分发展和认可。京剧于2006年被列入国家非物质遗产名录。
