Her PhD work at the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta focuses on how diverse trajectories of agrarian change and accumulation shape non-agrarian informal accumulation patterns across major Indian states.

She was awarded Ministry of Foreign Affairs- Taiwan Fellowship in 2023. She spent six months (July – December 2023) as a visiting scholar at the Institute of International Relations, National Chengchi University in Taiwan where she studied the trajectory of agrarian change and rural industrialization of Taiwan and potential insights for rural MSMEs in India and Make in India policies.

Kranthi’s current research explores the themes of agrarian change, rural industrialization, the role of MSMEs and entrepreneurship in rural growth and development processes in India and East Asia. She aims to highlight the intersections of class, caste, and gender in rural accumulation processes.
