Mr. Carlo John B. Arceo is from the Philippines. He holds a PhD in Development Studies major in Sociology at the College of Humanities and Development Studies at China Agricultural University, Beijing, P.R. China. He acquired his Master’s degree in Rural Development and Management Studies from the College of Humanities and Development Studies at China Agricultural University. He is passionate about migration and development. His research interests include labor migration, socioeconomic and political inequalities, and gender inequalities in the context of the South-South migration pattern. His doctoral project focuses on the irregular palm oil labor migration from the Philippines to Malaysia. He is also currently researching the self-care strategies of the women stayers in Shanglin County, Guangxi Province. He is a research assistant for the China project team of the Migration for Development and Equality (MIDEQ) hub based at Coventry University – UK. Before coming to China, he worked as a policy and planning officer at the Office of the President of the Philippines – National Anti-Poverty Commission and as a project officer at the Development Academy of the Philippines.
