He Congzhi is an Associate Professor at the College of Humanities and Development Studies, China Agricultural University. Her research interests include agriculture and food systems, population mobility and rural transformation. She co-authored several books, including Lonely Sunset: Left-Behind Elderly in Rural China and Dual Coercion: Gender Exclusion and Inequality in Rural Left-Behind Communities, and published extensively in journals like the Journal of Peasant Studies, Social Sciences in China, and Open Times.

Her collaborative policy recommendations have received central government endorsement. Her work on rural left-behind populations earned her Second Prizes from the Beijing Philosophy and Social Science Awards (14th) and the Ministry of Education (8th, 2020). A collaborative paper with Prof. Jingzhong Ye, "Poverty Alleviation Practices and Theoretical Exploration Based on Smallholder Production" (Social Sciences in China), garnered multiple top honors: First Prizes from Beijing Philosophy and Social Science Awards (16th, 2021) and the Ministry of Education (8th, 2024), the 7th "Outstanding Sociological Achievement" from the Lu Xueyi Sociology Development Foundation (2021), and the 9th "China Rural Development Research Award" for Best Paper (2023).

In 2023, she was named a Young Top Talent under Beijing's "High-Caliber Innovation Program."
