Xiaobo Hua

Xiaobo Hua holds a Ph.D. in Area Studies from Kyoto University, where he also worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Center for Southeast Asian Studies. His research interests include land-use change, livelihood transformation and rural development, and border studies. He focuses on border regions between China and Southeast Asian countries, and mountainous areas of Southwest China, specifically examining issues such as agricultural intensification, farmland marginalization, cross-border labor migration, cross-border agricultural investment, and agricultural product trade. Xiaobo has led and participated in numerous projects, including the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) Young Scientists Fund, Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research (Start-up and Basic Research), the Sasakawa Scientific Research Grant, NSFC General Program, and international cooperation projects. His publications include articles in prominent journals such as The Journal of Peasant Studies and Ecology and Society.
