Focusing on the introduction of China’s development model and experience, this program aimed to cultivate research and management talents with a global perspective, advanced development management experience and research methods, and understanding of China’s development model and experience. The enrollment targets were mainly government officials, personnel of scientific research and education institutions, development practitioners and personnel with business relationships in China from Africa and other developing countries and regions. By introducing China’s development model and concepts, this program enabled students to integrate these concepts into their work practices in their own countries, influence their scientific practices and policy formulation, promote the development of development studies in different countries, and accelerate business cooperation between China and other countries. In 2015, this program began to undertake the Ministry of Commerce’s foreign-aid master program for developing countries. A total of 129 students from different developing countries including Asia, Africa, Europe, Oceania, Central America and South America were recruited in the five phases from 2015 to 2019. As of 2019, this major has enrolled 252 international students from 52 different countries, including 55 doctoral students and 197 master’s students, of which 44 doctors and 139 masters have successfully obtained the corresponding degrees. After returning to their home countries, overseas students have taken up employment in the government, universities, scientific research and non-profit organizations of their respective countries and become the backbone of their work, creating excellent work performance and good social impact.
The college is committed to cultivating talents for the world.
